Hertz protects the Environment!

We all have to take care of the environment and we all are responsible for the pollution that affects our planet. Hertz Romania has therefore decided to launch its internal Environment Protection Program.

Since January 2009 we

• have introduced in each car group of our fleet the most fuel efficient vehicles available on the Romanian market.
• have reduced the intervals between engine check-ups in order to ensure best fuel efficiency at all times.
• do not move any vehicles between Hertz locations, unless we have received a firm booking for a specific car group. It could therefore happen periodically that certain vehicles are not available at all times at all our rental locations.
• only use recycled paper for our letter heads and all printed matters such as offers, tariffs, brochures, flyers etc. We will not print any incoming e-mail anymore unless there is a legal requirement to archive the message over a certain period. Paper and cardboard will be recycled. Documents with personal information of our clients, suppliers and business partners will previously be shredded.
• have equipped our Head Office and Rental Locations with lighting that uses less energy and the lighted Hertz logos will be switched off after midnight, wherever possible. At our Head Office and all our rental locations all equipment and office machines will be switched off after office hours. Except for the server and the security system, no equipment will be left on stand-by.
• give preference to suppliers that make similar efforts to protect the environment.

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN TOURISM

• If one million people replaced a 7km car trip once a week with a bike ride, we could reduce CO2 emissions by about 100,000 tonnes per annum.
• Installing LED traffic lights, which consume 80% less energy than traditional lights, can save a large city millions of Dollars per annum.
